Renowned for being the last stop of the medieval pilgrimage route of St. James, Camino de Santiago, the city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is famous for being one of Spain's most monumental places and a cultural centre with a deep history and strong traditions. The city is also very lively, thanks in great part to the university and the student atmosphere that it attracts.

About the University: The University of Santiago de Compostela was established in 1495, ranking it as one of the oldest universities in the world and has been the infrastructure for the city and region's educational foundation for over 500 years.
The university of Compostela has over 40,000 students and over 3,000 faculty staff over two campuses.
The campus in Santiago de Compostela is quite centrally located within the city and consists of over 30 buildings, including sports and other facilities, libraries, student residence halls, and built on more than one million square meters of land.
The University promotes many cultural events each year and is also involved with EU mobility projects that give foreign students the chance to study Spanish at the school and also to send the USC students abroad for a worldly education.
