Autonomous University Of Barcelona
Founded as a public institution in 1968, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) has grown rapidly to become Barcelona's second largest university and a pioneering center for research in the region. Over 50,000 students attend the university, more than 2,000 of which are foreign students engaged in undergraduate and graduate programs as well as non-study abroad related continuing education courses.
The Spanish courses offered by the university are held at the UAB Idiomes site in Casa Convalescència, an art nouveau building designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in downtown Barcelona just minutes from the famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral. UAB Idiomes brings together its local students (who study languages such as English, French and German at the satellite campus) with foreign students enrolled in its Spanish courses, thus encouraging productive interlingual exchange between students.
Intensive Spanish courses are available year-round with starting dates every month, and can last from 4 weeks to an entire year. Anyone above 18 can sign up for a course directly at the university, including current university students who need not apply through their home university's study abroad department to obtain credit hours for a Spanish course at UAB.

The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is a public university. The University was founded in 1968 and is the second biggest public university in Barcelona with more than 50.000 students.
The study Spanish language course program for foreigners at the Autonomous University of Barcelona is located in the historic building UAB Casa Convalescència, which is situated in the central area of the city close to the cathedral Sagrada Família.
The Spanish language courses are arranged by the Spanish School of Modern Languages of the Autonomous University of Barcelona that also arranges other language courses. The School of Modern Languages has more than 25 years of experience teaching foreign languages and foreign students will be sharing the premises with over 600 local students.
The Spanish language course school complex at Casa Convalescència is a unique modernist building dating back to 1905 which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.In 1998 the building was completely renovated to the standards of a modern academic centre, while preserving the details of its historic past.
The building has a total of 35 classrooms and 4 lecture halls all equipped with multi-media technology and audiovisual material. Apart from this there is a multimedia room with high-speed Internet connections that students can use free of charge.
There are students from all over the world and in all age groups participating in the Spanish language course programs offered by Autonomous Barcelona University. In addition, no academic requirements or minimum levels needed to participate in the Spanish language courses.
The teachers of the Spanish language courses are all highly qualified with a university degree in Philology and with postgraduate Spanish language studies.
Apart from the Spanish language courses, the Autonomous University of Barcelona arranges different free-time activities, such as guided walks through the city, visits to museums and excursions to nearby places of interest.
